Students to Attend Governor's Honors Program
Thirteen students from schools in Douglas County were selected to attend the prestigious Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) this summer. The students were selected after a rigorous application and interview process. The experience will begin June 18, 2017, at Berry College in Rome, GA. GHP is a four week residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be juniors and seniors in high school in August. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from typical high school classrooms and is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The state of Georgia covers the cost of the program for all participants. For many students, the experience at GHP is uniquely positive and often life changing. Pictured are 11 of the 13 students who were selected for GHP. Their school and the field they will study at GHP are listed below.
