Important dates and holidays in the Douglas County School System for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year are as follows:

Friday, December 16: End of first semester

December 19 and 20: Student/staff holidays, except 240 day employees

December 21-January 2: All schools and district offices closed

January 3: Student holiday; teacher work day

January 4: Students return, first day of second semester

January 6: Report cards issued, all levels

January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, sytem closed

February 7: Progress reports, elementary and middle schools

February 8: Half day early release for students; half day professional learning for staff

February 20-22: Holiday for all students and staff, except 240 day employees

March 15: End of grading period, elementary and middle schools; half day early release, all students; half day professional learning for staff

March 17: Report cards, elementary and middle schools; progress reports, high schools

April 3-7: Spring break, system closed

May 23-24: Half day early release, high schools

May 25-26: Half day early release, all students

May 26: Last day of school year
