Mt. Carmel Elementary is very excited to begin Year 3 of the Leader in Me process! All of our teachers are trained in Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (1989).

The 7 Habits are a key component of the overall Leader in Me process. They are universal, timeless principles of personal and interpersonal effectiveness, such as responsibility, vision, integrity, teamwork, collaboration and renewal. These skills are not only essential, but common to all people and cultures.

The Leader in Me process teaches students the skills needed for academic success in all settings. These skills include critical thinking, goal setting, listening and speaking, self-directed learning, presentation-making and the ability to work in groups.

Mt. Carmel is extremely thankful to the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and the Douglas County School Board of Education for assisting them financially in this endeavor over these past 2 years. Their support has helped to supplement grant funds Mt.Carmel received from the I am a Leader Foundation. School fundraisers are scheduled to assist with the additional funding.
